| IV. Volunteer Research Opportunities |
ProCon.org seeks volunteers to help with one or more of the five research projects listed below. Volunteers receive an interesting research experience, our deepest gratitude, and recognition on the above list of volunteers and interns. To volunteer at ProCon.org, please see the application instructions at the end of the list.
- Schools That Use ProCon.org: Find references to ProCon.org from teachers, librarians, and other educators at any level, K-12 or college/university. Help us increase the growing list of schools that use ProCon.org by using our handy checklist to research and locate schools that do not already appear on our list.
- Research: We need skilled volunteer researchers to help us find new and update existing position statements in the following subject areas:
- electronic voting machines (specifically about machine costs, physical tampering, "sleepovers", and source code),
- illegal immigration (specifically about state/local enforcement of federal immigration laws, illegal immigration and crime rates, and immigration quotas),
- Israeli-Palestinian conflict (specifically about Jerusalem, Zionism, intl. financial support to Israel and the Palestinian territories),
- medical marijuana (specifically about Alzheimer's disease, arthritis, immune system, AIDS/HIV patients, and cannabis clubs), and
- religion (specifically replace all quotes from Wikipedia in the "All Religions and Denominations in the US" page at Under God ProCon.org with authoritative quotes directly from the relevant source)
- for a longer list of projects, see our ProCon.org Interns/Externs Project List in PDF format.
Source links and PDFs should accompany all submitted research.
- Proofreading: Find and fix any spelling errors, grammatical mistakes, broken links, or any other problems that may need correcting. Send a list of all problems and proposed resolutions by email - one issue website at a time.
- State Educational Standards (Grade 9-12) Met by Using ProCon.org: Find the grades 9-12 state educational standards for all 50 states and write the number, name, and description of each standard that you think can be met by teachers who use ProCon.org in the classroom. Include a PDF of those standards. Reference only the latest official version of the state standards. We will solicit educational professionals to review this work prior to posting on the ProCon.org.
- Graphic designers wanted to build "infographics” for our medical marijuana, prostitution, euthanasia, death penalty, and milk websites based on the facts presented in the Did You Know? pages of those websites. Serious design professionals only please.

| V. How to Volunteer or Intern at ProCon.org |
If you are interested in volunteering or interning at ProCon.org, please send an email to jobs@procon.org titled "Re: Volunteering" and include:
1. your resume,
2. the number of hours per week you can work,
3. which project(s) of the ones listed above that you'd like to work on,
4. an explanation of your relevant experience and interest, and
5. any questions you have for us.
Our volunteers and interns work offsite, usually from their homes. To be credited as a volunteer, you'll need to complete at least 20 hours of volunteer work in one month (not to exceed 8 hours in a day and 80 hours in a month) and submit weekly progress emails (number of hours worked that week, that month, and total to date, plus a 1-2 sentence summary of what you worked on).
Failure to submit progress emails for two consecutive weeks will normally result in automatic termination of the volunteership and related recognition. After 50 hours of volunteer work, your title would be changed to Intern.
If you surpass 250 hours of volunteer work, then we’d change your title to Senior Intern. Internships cannot exceed 500 hours. Assignments and acceleration within the internship program are based on your interests, available projects, and quality of work submitted. |
