Alabama Becomes 37th US State to Legalize Gay Marriage

Alabama Becomes 37th US State to Legalize Gay Marriage – On Feb. 9, 2015, after the US Supreme Court decided 7-2 not to grant the state’s request for a stay, same-sex couples began receiving marriage licenses. The marriages went ahead despite Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore ordering probate judges not to issue licenses to same-sex couples. 13 states still have gay marriage bans in place.
