Jeff Harris, Board Member

Mr. Harris is the former CEO of the Junior Statesmen of America, a student debate society formed in 1934 that is considered the largest and oldest student organization in the United States. He worked at JSA for 25 years, and is one of the country’s most recognized and respected civic educators. He has extensive experience working with foundations, boards, donors, teacher organizations, and students.

Prior to serving as CEO, Mr. Harris directed 15 sessions of JSA’s summer school program at Stanford University and Georgetown University. He was also JSA’s Program Director for Southern California. Over his term at JSA, Mr. Harris specialized in program and curricula development, creating the popular student-run Congressional simulation format, and spearheading the organization’s urban outreach programs. As CEO, Mr. Harris modernized the organization’s marketing, led re-branding and strategic planning initiatives, and introduced innovative curriculum.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley in Political Science, and he graduated from the Executive Program for Non-profit Leaders at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
