Mike Gatto, Board Member

Mr. Gatto was a four-term member of the California State Assembly (in District 43) from 2010-2016, where he also served as Assistant Speaker Pro Tempore. He was Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, the Consumer Protection & Privacy Committee, and the Utilities & Commerce Committee. Gatto was the author of several landmark pieces of legislation. And the Sacramento Bee reported that he was the only lawmaker – in both the Assembly and Senate – who did not miss a single vote in 2015, a streak that ran from 2012 through 2016.

Prior to his term in the Assembly, Mr. Gatto worked as an aide to Congressman Brad Sherman, and served as President of the El Pueblo (Los Angeles Historical Monument Authority) in the administrations of three different Los Angeles mayors. The Speaker of the California State Assembly recently appointed Gatto to the California Delta Conservancy Council, the state’s water authority, charged with conveying supplies to Southern California and meeting our state’s environmental goals.

His professional experience includes teaching English, and as an attorney for O’Melveny & Myers, Mayer Brown LLP, and most recently a law firm he founded.

He received a BA degree in history from the University of California Los Angeles and a law degree from Loyola Marymount University, where he graduated magna cum laude.
