2023 Wrap-Up
As we move through the last weeks of 2023, let’s take a look back at what ProCon brought our wonderful readers this year.
ProCon published three brand new topics:
The 2024 election topic was also launched, filled with biographies of candidates, historical resources, and voting information. To date, 20 questions have been published, capturing the candidates’ opinions on a range of debated issues. This work will continue until the 2024 election on Nov. 5, 2024.
We completely revamped three older topics into our newer format, adding our signature pro/con columns of arguments and narrative histories:
- Should performance-enhancing drugs and technologies be allowed in sports?
- Should felons regain the right to vote?
- Should the death penalty be legal?
We updated many of our other topics, including extensive re-writes of:
- Should packing the U.S. Supreme Court ever be considered?
- Should the United States have mandatory national service?
- Is golf a sport and are golfers athletes?
48 headline articles were published, including a pair of student essays from ProCon’s partnership with JSA.
Our top five most popular topics this year were:
- Should students have to wear school uniforms?
- Should more gun control laws be enacted?
- Should abortion be legal?
- Should animals be used for scientific or commercial testing?
- Should the death penalty be legal?
