Over Half of Americans Say Birth Control, Death Penalty, and Other Issues are Morally Acceptable

A May 2023 Gallup poll found about half or more of Americans agree that certain issues are morally acceptable. 

Birth control – 88%

Death penalty – 60%

Buying and wearing clothing made of animal fur – 60%

Medical aid in dying – 53%

Abortion – 52%

Medical animal testing – 48%

Gallup concludes, “Americans’ opinions on the morality of various issues have mostly become more liberal over the past two decades.”
