U.S. House Passes Bill to Force TikTok Sale or Face Ban on App Stores

On Mar. 13, 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the “Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act,” which would force ByteDance to sell TikTok or face a ban in American app stores. While the bill passed the House 352-65 and President Biden has indicated support, the bill faces an uncertain future in the Senate where there is no companion bill and Senator Schumer has not indicated whether the Senate will add the legislation to the schedule.
